MEMODAILLE® is Euroscope’s registered brand for high-quality souvenir medals. The name combines the ideas of memory and medal, capturing the purpose of the product: a tangible keepsake from a meaningful place, visit, or moment.
Sometimes a brand does not begin with a campaign. It begins with a practical question.
In 2014, Euroscope expanded its product range with a round souvenir medal. Alongside the company’s established embossed motifs, the new product gave visitors another way to take home a lasting reminder of a viewpoint, museum, attraction, landmark, or day out. For partners, it added variety at the site and created another compact format for location-specific designs.
But the new product immediately raised one important question: What should the medal be called?
Why the Name Mattered
A souvenir medal is not a generic object. It brings together a place, a design, and a visitor moment in one small physical keepsake. The name therefore had to do more than describe the product. It had to be clear, memorable, and recognisably Euroscope.
In France, a company had already been distributing souvenir medals through vending machines for many years. Euroscope’s French partners pointed out that the term “Médaille Souvenir” could potentially cause confusion or legal complications. The conclusion was straightforward: the new medal needed an identity of its own.
The Idea Came from Inside the Team
The solution came from within Euroscope.
Alexandra Metzen, who has been part of the company for more than 22 years, suggested a spontaneous name: MEMODAILLE®.
The name worked because it connected two ideas at once. “Memo” points to memory. “Medaille” names the object. Together, they explain why people choose this kind of souvenir: they want to carry a visit home with them.
What MEMODAILLE® Means Today
Since 2015, MEMODAILLE® has been protected as a registered brand. Today, the name stands for souvenir medals that translate places, experiences, and motifs into lasting physical keepsakes.
For visitors, a MEMODAILLE® is a small object with personal meaning. For site partners, it is a compact, easy-to-understand souvenir format that can be connected to local imagery, landmarks, and visitor moments.
That is where its strength sits: a MEMODAILLE® is not just a medal. It is a Trophy of Presence – physical proof that someone was there.
Why the Origin Story Still Fits the Brand
The naming story reflects how Euroscope thinks about visitor experiences. A site, a product, and a memory need to work together. MEMODAILLE® makes that connection visible: it is simple, distinctive, and close to the emotional value of the product.
What began as a spontaneous suggestion became a brand that still explains what a good souvenir should do. It should not only be bought. It should preserve a moment.
